Dear John Mayer...[A letter from Middle Earth]

Now I've really never liked John Mayer even when he would hang out with Eric Clapton, and Buddy Guy. To me he's always been this arrogant ass selling himself out. While I admit he has fantastic taste in cars, I still find him unacceptable. However, I have never been able to eloquently manifest my thoughts in my head on paper but luckily now I don't have to as some hobbit has done it for me. (Did you know that in New Zealand there are the three Orcs for every one person.)
Thing is, John Mayer, the reason you bugged me (and still bug me) is because you have created a cult where a bunch of people see you as a serious musician who just happened to take a shot at being a pop star because it was handed to you and then decided you would make a bid for seriousness on the side.
In fact, the way I put it last time was:
Mayer does not deserve the chance to redeem himself with his white-boy blues and folky guitar antics. He made his choice. He allowed the music industry to package him up. And he needs to stay in that box. And be that guy. He can try his best to be Michael Hedges or Pat Metheny. But he'll still be plying two-hand acoustic tapping on a custom harp-guitar to the sound of Your Body Is a Wonderland.
And I stand by that. But this is where I kick myself, John Mayer, I really do. I threw out a wee taunt to you, a slightly barbed challenge. I suggested that you made your sappy-pop bed when you signed your life away on the line. And I told you to quit pretending to put your alleged pedigree to use and go back to making music so lame I won't even be sent copies of it and won't have to try to form an opinion of it.
I concluded with the cheap shot (or Cold Shot perhaps, since you're a fan of Stevie Ray Vaughan) that your body of work is no wonderland.Hit the link for more.

You clearly don't know anything about him, nor do you listen to any of his music. It is better than any of that blues shit. Blues is dead get over it and move on.
Good sir, might I refer you to a previous article where I state that music can't die. http://www.bluesforlife.com/2009/10/before-music-dies-documentary.html
All i hear is waaahhhh John Mayer won't save my favorite genre waahhhh... because lets face it blues is DEAD and the only thing that could possibly revive it is a guy like Mayer, but even he realizes that their isn't any money in it. face it blues has been replaced by emo music as the new way to get depressed while listening to music
That is some NICE art you got there!
Love from Sweden!

Now for your topic on John Mayer 1st. The boy does have talent even if his pop stuff doesn't resinate with you, if he can hang with Budy & Eric and shine well my brother's he can, cut him some slack. 2nd. Any one of you if offered the $$$$$ he has been offered would take it, No Shit, so don't be a hater cause he took the GiG. Now I think as people go he's an ass but that is what ($$$$$$) will do to young people who find success early. he will learn his lesson one way or another. 3rd I have writen over 200 song's and guess what there not all blues, there not all poppy iether but when I do play out I play a mix of what I know. 4th when I still had my blues band We never played anything but the blues, Player's get old and die the blues will live on & on & on & on.....
Let me tell you all a story. I was jamming at Bue's Ect. (on belmont ave in Chicago) one night 10 or 15 yr's back.I played some original's (not Blues) and some Blues cover's I think I ended with Hoochy Coochy Man. I was trying out some new materian with Rockin Jhony for a project. Well I came off stage and I felt a hand come down on my sholder, and a voice said in my ear. "Son if I was a blind man, I would have sworn you was black. I turned to look at who it was and I knew imediatly who it was, so i said "oh ____, I'm just a white boy swimin in a black man's pond" he laughed and said let's have a drink and we talked a bit. He said he really liked some of my NON BLUES number's a lot. he said that I should play more blues. That man was Ottis Rush. Thank you all, remember if you know where I can find Phil Or his wife Debra I sure be greatful, Mark Stewart
